The Latest Scottish Newsletter
Dear Head Teacher/PT Support for Learning/CPD coordinatorYou will have seen the article in this month’s Teaching Scotland magazine about the recently developed Framework for Inclusion designed to ensure that all students and teachers are appropriately guided and supported from the outset and throughout their careers towards gaining the required knowledge and understanding of inclusive education.
Every day in mainstream classrooms, staff face issues concerning autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, challenging behaviour and the specific learning difficulties caused by dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia as well as social and equalities issues. Most children/young people who have additional needs receive the help they need from classroom teachers and learning assistants in mainstream schools.
Provision of appropriate CPD opportunities for all staff is essential to equip them to meet the challenges they face on a daily basis and to build upon inclusive practice and provision within mainstream schools.
