All course have now been revised to reflect current legislation and practice. We will continue to update courses regularly.
We have also reviewed how long it might take a user to complete each course. Obviously this will vary according to a number of factors such as the type of internet connection being used, whether a user chooses to read course materials online or prefers to download/print these and the extent of any course forum contributions.
An electronic log is automatically generated for each user and we ask everyone to keep a personal log of off line course activities such as reading, collegial discussion and practical classroom activities to be submitted when the course is complete to be added to the course certificate. We have taken all of these factors into account when revising our estimate of how long each course might take - at no extra cost to users.

A groundbreaking online resource - the ‘Assessing Dyslexia’ toolkit - was launched by Mike Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning and Sir Jackie Stewart, President of Dyslexia Scotland, Yesterday the 1st June at Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh.
The toolkit was produced by a specialist working group managed by Dyslexia Scotland with the support of the Scottish Government. This comprehensive online toolkit aims to help all teachers and early years workers to identify literacy difficulties.
Sir Jackie Stewart said, "I would like to congratulate the initiative of the Scottish Government and especially the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mike Russell, in supporting the „Assessing Dyslexia‟ toolkit Programme, in association with Dyslexia Scotland. Without the Government‟s initiative, this simply would not have happened.
The early recognition by teachers of children with learning difficulties is absolutely paramount; they must be identified and assessed. All teachers require the skills and particularly the disciplines of consistent practice to assist children suffering from dyslexia, or any other form of learning difficulty.
